A Worthing care home hosted a fun-filled garden party at the weekend for its young disabled adults with live music, food and drink to help raise money for a '˜much-needed' physio room.

The day, which was held at Fethneys Care Home in Farncombe Road on Saturday, also included a bbq, a tombola, and karaoke.

More than £1,000 was raised on the day, adding to the pot for a physio room that will cost £23,500.

Support worker Charley Moyce, 24, said: “We had the idea last year, but as we went forward it never happened, so we did give it a go this time. It is also a bit of fun for the guys and residents.

“I think my favourite bit of the day was when a little old lady came along and decided she wanted to sing, an old classic. She was great, and she was so lovely.

“We hope to raise as much as we can towards building this facility - which we hope will be put in by the end of the year.”

£700 was raised on the door, while another £100 was donated by people who could not attend on a Crowdfunding page, while HSBC has agreed to match the price of all funds made.

Charley added: “£1,000 won’t get us what we need, but it will certainly help. We now have over £18,000 in the pot, so not far off.”
