A slimmer who has used her weight loss to shape a whole new career continues to go from strength to strength.
Sarah Mealing decided to take the plunge and move from Wirral to Worthing in September last year.
She has set up a successful Slimming World group in Worthing and is now adding Steyning to the list, with a group launching at St John Ambulance Hall, Middle Mead, on Wednesday.
Sarah said: “I transformed my life seven years ago by losing two stone and I am using my success to help other people change their lives and achieve their weight loss dreams, too.
“The latest government figures reveal around one in four adults are obese and it is estimated that by 2034, this will increase to one in three, so my role has never been more important. Obesity is becoming such a huge issue across the UK.
“When I first joined Slimming World as a member, I never dreamed that I would end up helping other people to lose weight. It’s a privilege for me to be able to pass on the experience, insight and understanding that helped me.
“Support is really the most important thing. It all starts with feeling that you’re not alone. I couldn’t have lost 2 stone without the weekly help, encouragement and understanding of my own consultant and group.
“Setting targets, sharing recipes and other ideas, and working together as a group to overcome challenges and celebrate success is so important to a successful journey.”
Sarah has a bubbly personality but her own battle with her weight, which included yo-yo dieting, saw her self-esteem drop to an all-time low at one point.
Her own consultant put her back on track and after three years of being a member, Sarah began her new career by training as a slimming consultant in Derbyshire in August 2013.
Sarah has a group at St Stephen’s Cafe Church, Worthing, on Tuesdays at 5.30pm. Her new Steyning group is on Wednesdays at 9.30am. Call her on 07774 319254 for more information.
