Dozens of families flocked to the church, in Western Road, on Saturday and there were queues to join in all the free activities.

A bouncy castle and slide were kept busy all morning and there were also plenty of customers for the face painting and craft activities, which included making masks and paper rockets.

For the more active children, there were several games to play, including giant versions of Connect 4 and Jenga, and a football penalty shoot-out.

Parents were able to sit and watch their children play while enjoying refreshments, including home-made cakes, and there was also a tuck shop available.

Joint organiser Nick Hough said: “It was a brilliant day, with loads of people coming in all morning.

“Everyone seemed to have a good time, and we all really enjoyed putting this on for families at the end of the half term holiday.”

To follow, there will be a Donkey Tales all-age service on Sunday, December 11.
