BREAKING NEWS: Police linking five armed robberies across Adur and Worthing

POLICE are linking five armed robberies in Adur and Worthing amid a string of incidents across the Herald and Gazette area (Tuesday, March 17).

The force confirmed this afternoon it is linking robberies at Uncle Sams’ takeaway in Crabtree Lane, Lancing, on January 3, Uncle Sam’s takeaway in Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham, on February 22, Betfred in Findon Road, Findon Valley, on March 5 and Ladbrokes in Rowlands Road, last Monday and the Co-op store in Royal George Parade, Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham, on Sunday.

Further knifepoint robberies at McColl’s, in Durrington, and the Cuff Miller garage in Littlehampton last night are not being linked to the others.

Detective Inspector Rob Walker said: “We are linking five armed robberies in Shoreham, Lancing and Worthing and are appealing for information from the public.”

Two people have been arrested in connection with the Co-op robbery.

A 33-year-old man from Burgess Hill has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and a 23-year-old Shoreham woman was arrested on suspicion of making without payment.

They have both been bailed for further enquiries until 2 May.
