A MOON landing delighted guests at Adur Astronomical Society’s Christmas party.

The creation won first prize in the ‘astronomical’ competition to bake a cake with an astronomy theme.

Chairman Robin Durant presented Vicky Wells with her prize of a bottle of Champagne.

Her moon landing cake featured craters, a silver landing craft made using aluminium foil and a green ‘AAS’ flag.

The party was held at Southwick Christian Community Church, in Roman Crescent, Southwick, on December 1.

Entertainment included a fun quiz and music, with food and drink provided.

Mr Durant said it was a great get-together and proceeds from the raffle would go to The Fed, a Brighton charity for the disabled.

The user-led organisation promotes independent living for all. It works towards equality by inspiring disabled people to identify barriers and define solutions.

The society meets on a monthly basis at 7.30pm.

Mr Durant said: “We are a small, friendly group of all standards, including beginners, of astronomy learning and welcome new members who would like to learn about astronomy, be it the Moon Stars or deep space objects.

“Come along as our guest for one meeting and enjoy a new astronomic experience.”
