Astronaut Tim Peake ready for historic mission - follow our live blog

West Sussex-born astronaut Tim Peake embarks on his historic space flight today Tuesday (December 15), when he becomes the first Briton to serve a mission on the International Space Station.

Tim and his fellow astronauts will launch from Baikonur, Kazakhstan at 11.03 GMT.

Docking is scheduled for six hours after launch 17.23 GMT.

The mission duration is more than 171 days.
