Last year’s 25th anniversary event broke all records and the team is now looking ahead to the next airshow, on August 22 and 23.

Airshow organiser Derek Harber said Aeroplane Magazine had highlighted Shoreham as the best UK family airshow in 2014.

“What an achievement for all those involved,” he said. “A big thank you also to our many sponsors and supporters who have helped make Shoreham Airshow what it is.”

This year, the 75th anniversary of The Battle of Britain will be celebrated in style, with particular emphasis on the usual airfield attack and scramble scenario.

Rod Dean, flying display director, is already working on the plans, including the return of the Blenheim lovingly restored by John Romain and his team at The Aircraft Restoration Company.

“There will be several new display aircraft flying this year, and I plan to bring as many of these as possible to Shoreham,” said Mr Dean.

“Aviation history plays such an important part when it comes to planning this airshow. We mix new with the old, and that is what makes Shoreham so special.

“We got it right last year, even to the extent of bringing in a stunning display by model aircraft – one flying alongside its real-life counterpart.

“Of course, we like to cater for fast jet enthusiasts and there will be some exciting additions to please all. Watch out for Brendan O’Brien and his truck top landing display.”

There will be all the popular ground attractions, as usual, and a large static aircraft display, giving visitors the opportunity to meet the many visiting aircrews.

Press officer John Periam said: “The spectator viewing, which is so close to the runway with the backdrop of Lancing College and the South Downs, makes Shoreham just that little bit special.”
