Herald series editor in chief Gary Shipton said: “I urge everyone to go for these awards as sponsors or entrants because they are great for the towns, great for your customers, they are tremendous for you and your staff and clients because they are part of your journey towards success.

“We are immensely proud to help push these awards forward. We do it because we believe in our communities. We believe in your businesses. There is always much negative publicity in the world and we are keen to say Adur and Worthing are the best and we are on your side.”

Mr Shipton said there were three reasons why businesses typically did not take part in the awards.

They either ‘didn’t do awards’ or ‘couldn’t be bothered with the paperwork and administration’ but the number one reason was that ‘they didn’t think they were good enough’.

He stressed the nomination system was pain-free, while past winners, including ETI, SkiMarket and Pixel by Pixel, spoke of the benefits of taking part.

Chris Painter, managing director of Pixel by Pixel, said: “We never thought we were going to win. On the night we were at the back and thought we had no chance of winning and we were speechless when we won.

“It is worth spending time on your entry. It is a great thing to do. We are really proud to have won and it is a great night out.”

The awards will be judged by a panel including representatives from Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce and Worthing Borough Council.
