Mouse Lane has been the centre of controversy in recent months following numerous complaints to the council over debris in the road and flooding.

Residents in Mouse Lane have been calling for action following severe problems with water and mud on the road earlier this year.

Councillors and officers were asked for an update at the Chanctonbury County Local Committee meeting last Wednesday.

A concerned resident asked the committee if there was any progress on the situation.

Principle Community Officer Cali Sparks said the council had been working with the drainage team and currently a new balancing pond was being organised with the Wiston Estate and parish council.

She added that all the pot holes had been surveyed and should be filled within 28 days.

“We’re going to look at what we can do with a flooding action plan,” added Mrs Sparks.

Residents have said the road is the worst it has ever been. Despite meetings with West Sussex County Council and Steyning Parish Council, they said not enough is being done to clear the road of dangerous, slippery mud.
