FIVE Shoreham Academy students are preparing for a musical production with a new theatre company.
Apollo Productions is putting on Loserville, the company’s first full-scale musical following a successful launch in March last year.
The show is set in an American high school in 1971 and among the 34 young performers are Daniel Walford, Leah Rhodie, Emily Hardy, Jamie Redford and Aleigha Bushara from Shoreham Academy.
Loserville, written by Elliot Davis and James Bourne, tells the classic American story of geeks versus jocks.
Michael Dork is a computer geek, bullied at school every day, but his love of computers has led him to discover something that will change the world forever - except he has also discovered girls.
Katy Markey, founder and artistic director of Apollo Productions, said: “Having launched a Twitter campaign to get James Bourne, from McBusted, involved, he himself has offered to come and see the production, as well as tweeting his followers about our production and following us on Twitter.”
Loserville is directed by Jack Ambrose, choreographed by Victoria Schofield, musically directed by Josh Mills and produced by Katy.
It will be staged at The Old Market, Upper Market Street, Brighton, from Tuesday until next Saturday, with evening performances daily at 7.30pm and a Saturday matinée at 2.30pm on January 31.
Tickets are £12 each, or £42 for a family ticket. Visit theoldmarket.com/shows/loserville or call the box office on 01273 201801.
