FOOTBALLERS from a Shoreham school achieved an historic double this year, winning the Sussex County Cup in two age groups.
The year-eight team defeated St Richard’s, Beacon, Hazlewick and Longhill on route to the final, where they dispatched Cardinal Newman 2-1.
The following week, the sixth-form side’s cup run also ended in victory as they beat Crawley’s Thomas Bennett Community College by the same scoreline in Haywards Heath, a brace from Toby House securing victory for his side.
Year-eight manager Mr Pulling said: “The team really should be very proud of their accomplishments.
“I am particularly pleased with the attitude the players have displayed. They are willing to work hard for each other, listen to advice and respond to any setbacks they face.”
Vice principal and under-19 coach Dave Oakes said: “The sixth-form footballers have been absolutely tremendous this year. They have trained hard and put in some truly outstanding performances.”
Outgoing principal Heidi Brown said the young men were a credit to the academy, adding that sport at the academy was at an ‘all-time high’.
