7,000th member signs up to Western Sussex Hospitals Trust

THE area’s hospital trust has now reached its target for membership in its bid to convert to Foundation Trust status.

The Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust has reached its target of 7,000 members – and still hopes to recruit more people.

Membership means becoming more involved in the running of St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester, as well as Worthing Hospital and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham.

Those taking part will elect their own council of governors to make decisions on strategy and service developments. The council will also approve the appointment of the chief executive.
