50 years of humanitarian work celebrated

Around 100 people met to celebrate 50 years of humanitarian work by Blythswood Care, a Christian charity working in many countries, particularly in Eastern Europe.

Blythswood provides emergency aid to those who suffer sudden crises; long-term projects for the sick, the elderly and children; and shoeboxes – a Christmas gift for folk who have very little.

This special event included afternoon tea, then a Service of Thanksgiving, both at Worthing Tabernacle, who kindly hosted the occasion.

It was the last of a series of nationwide Celebrations this year.

The Service included a DVD of the charity’s special projects, such as improvements to a Home in India for street children and the renovation of a community centre in a poverty-stricken area of Romania.

The Worthing event gathered people from all over the South East region.

This region sent 2,000 shoeboxes to Serbia in 2015.

A team of staff from Blythswood’s HQ were also present, as was our special guest Pastor Dragisa from Serbia.

The beautiful cake was cut by James Campbell, Blythswood’s CEO and Pastor Dragisa.
