This photo of Warnes Hotel staff from the 1960s was featured in Looking Back with an appeal for the names of anyone pictured.

Shirley Harding (née Muskett), who used to work at the hotel, has written in to offer what information she remembers about the people in the photo.

She said: “I went to work at Warnes Hotel in 1964, starting as the switchboard operator and gradually working my way into the reception office.

“By the time I left I was second head receptionist.”

Shirley managed to name everyone on the front row, from left to right – Miss Eglon (wages clerk); Mrs Dawes (head housekeeper); Mr Barrance (head waiter); Mrs Boswell (with Jillie the dog); Mr Paul Boswell (manager); Gus (head chef); Mr Riley (head porter); Jennifer Baker (secretary); Miss Griffith (head receptionist).

On the second row she named Mr Treadaway, the assistant manager, as the man on the far left.

Shirley added: “Fifth from left was the wine waiter; seventh from left was a hall porter; eighth from the left was the night porter; and tenth from left is Patricia Roman.

On the back row Shirley named Mr Clarke, a floor waiter, as the man on the far left, and Bob, a staff room waiter, to his right.

Finally, on the far right was Charlie, a kitchen porter.

Do you recognise any of the other people in the photo?
