Next week, Bellmans Auctioneers are to auction a large and varied assortment of Oriental items as part of this month’s three day auction of Antiques & Interiors, which runs from March 18-20.
The sale includes an eclectic and unusual mix of items, with dates – ranging from the 17th century right up to more contemporary 20th century pieces.
Especially exciting buyers this month is lot 895 – a pair of Japanese Imari figures of Bijin, modelled in their flowing robes and painted with floral designs.
Dating from the late 17th/early 18th century, these exquisite figures carry an auction estimate of £1,000 to £1,500 and will go under the hammer from 10am on Wednesday, March 18.
Each month, Bellmans hosts dedicated sale sections for ceramics, paintings, furniture, silver, jewellery and textiles in their three day auctions, with toys, wine, books and Oriental works of art being auctioned bi-monthly.
Also of special note this month, in the ceramics section, is a large single owner collection of Royal Worcester porcelain, including rare and remarkable examples by George Owen, Baldwyn, John and Harry Stinton and Sebright.
With estimates ranging from £100 to £2,500, this collection invites all budgets and gives dealers, collectors and novice auction buyers the opportunity to take home a touch of the exotic.
Philip Howell, European and Oriental ceramics specialist at Bellmans Auctioneers, said: “We are delighted to include items of this calibre within our monthly antiques sales.
“I anticipate a great deal of competitive interest among Asian and European collectors alike.”
The entire auction is on view at Bellmans’ West Sussex Saleroom and will is fully illustrated online.
Online bidding is available via the-saleroom.com.
