These photos were sent in by Roger Sutton after he read a piece in Looking Back about Worthing High School for Boys and Major Leonard Ewart Littlewood.
Roger, of Penstone Close, Lancing, attended the school between 1952 and 1961.
He said: “As you can see from the photo, Mr Littlewood was one of the original masters at Worthing High School for Boys in January, 1924. Of the other original masters, I remember only Mr Johnson, Mr Rees and Mr Turner.”
The other photo is from the Worthing Herald in 1968, and marked the retirement of four long-serving masters – Mr Cowley, Mr Jenkins, Me Earnshaw and Mr Fuller.
“Mr Cowley taught physics and was an excellent teacher and charming man.
“Mr Jenkins was educated at Cambridge and had been at the school since 1925. He taught chemistry.
“Mr Earnshaw was a graduate of Downing College, Cambridge. He joined the school in 1926 and taught mathematics. He was my form master when I was in the sixth form.
“Mr Fuller was also a graduate of Cambridge University and joined the school in 1927 from a London grammar school. Since 1948, he had been head of the English department.
“He wrote several plays, which in 1968 still averaged 50 productions a year, and in both hemispheres.”
