The pair were appearing in Love Story at the Minerva Theatre in Chichester and took time out of their busy schedule to attend the fête, spending the afternoon chatting to residents and even enjoying some produce at the popular cake stall.

Fête organiser Jim Startin said at the time: “The amount raised was very good when you consider the economic conditions and the fact that Stansted Garden Show was on and of course there was the lure of the beach.
“Many people welcomed the appearance of Emma and Michael as some people had already seen them in Love Story.
“I think the highlight of the day was the tremendous atmosphere of goodwill and fun.”
