Looking back to world champion gurner’s 2011 face off challenge with Horsham District people

The twelve time world champion gurner challenged people to a face off in 2011.

Winner of the World Gurning Championships, Tommy Mattinson showcased his talent at Slinfold Golf and Country Club in aid of Comic Relief ten years ago.

Tommy gave the crowd tips on how to achieve the best gurn possible and challenged them to a ‘face-off ’.

Event organisers, PMW Communications Ltd, said at the time staff, club members and the public tried to beat Tommy, but few succeeded.

Andy McNiven, general manager at Slinfold Golf and Country Club, said: “The gurning event has been fantastic.

“Everyone has enjoyed welcoming Tommy to the club and he has helped us raise a lot of money for Comic Relief.”

Tommy also visited Cranleigh Golf and Country Club and challenged their visitors to a ‘face-off ’.

The two clubs hoped to raise more money for the charity by giving £10 to Comic Relief for every member that joined between March 7 and 18 2011.
