Looking back in pictures: D-Day flypast over Eastbourne in 2019

The D-Day Daks over Normandy flight took place on June 5 2019 and thousands of people lined the coastline along Eastbourne to watch the event.

Around 30 ‘Daks’, also known as Dakotas, flew over the town accompanied by a squadron of Spitfires and Hurricanes on their way to Normandy to commemorate the D-Day landings. The aircraft were due to fly over the town at around 14.50 but, due to a delay at Duxford, the aircraft finally arrived at around 17.20. Photos by Jon Rigby.
