West Sussex coronavirus hospital deaths and confirmed cases increase

The number of people who have died with coronavirus in hospital trusts serving West Sussex has increased.

According to NHS England figures, a further 14 people have sadly been recorded as having died in West Sussex since Sunday (May 24).

A total of 356 people are now reported to have died with coronavirus in hospital in West Sussex as of 5pm on Tuesday, May 26.

This figure does not include people who have died outside of hospital, for example in care homes or at home.

It includes anybody with coronavirus, or covid-19, mentioned on their death certificate, as well as patients who tested positive for the virus.

The number of people who have died with coronavirus in hospitals operated within West Sussex trusts are as follows:

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 101

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust – 15

There are now 1,316 confirmed cases in West Sussex, rising from 1,307 on Sunday.
