The Brighton resident has been a NHS physiotherapist for 12 years and currently works in West Sussex.

She said: “Our bodies are designed to move therefore it is really important to try and find suitable activities that we can safely do in isolation.

“With a lot of people now working from home we can do a lot more sitting than we might usually do therefore it is really important to stretch and move regularly to keep a healthy spine.

“I also think it is really great for our mental well being to take a moment for ourselves to do a short workout whether that is some relaxing stretches or a harder strengthening class.”

Through her work as a physiotherapist Victoria says that she often teaches Pilates exercises to her clients as it has a huge benefit to help many conditions such as lower back pain.

Alongside being a physio she has been teaching Pilates for seven years.

She launched her website Pilates Live after the birth of her son.

“As a physiotherapist I know the importance of pelvic floor and core exercises after having a baby and I am really passionate about spreading that message,” she said,

“However, the reality of trying to get to Pilates classes with a baby feels almost impossible. Therefore we wanted to try and make something that people would be able to do for free at home and that is how the idea started.”

There are classes available for all levels and tutorials on how to do various Pilates exercises, engaging your core and pelvic floor muscles.

Victoria added: “We also have a new class for kids to help keep them entertained and active at home.

“There are also relaxing Pilates classes, classes for runners, post work class and much more. There are various different lengths of classes ranging from ten minutes to an hour class. We are continuing to add new classes every week.”

Key to keeping the momentum going with exercise Victoria says is to find what you enjoy.

“I would recommend looking through the website to find classes that suit them best. We have categorised classes by difficulty and class length to make this user friendly

“I hope many people can get lots of benefit from the classes but as with any exercise it is always important to listen to your body and work at your level.”

On the current UK lockdown situation, she said: “We hope in this really difficult time for many that we can offer something positive for people to do at home.”

A message from the Editor, Gary Shipton:

Thank you for reading this story on our website.

But I also have an urgent plea to make of you.

In order for us to continue to provide high quality local news on this free-to-read site and in print, please purchase a copy of our newspaper as well. With the coronavirus lockdown having a major impact on our town centres and many of our valued advertisers - and consequently the advertising that we receive - we are more reliant than ever on you buying a copy.

Our journalists are highly trained by the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) and our content is independently regulated by IPSO to some of the most rigorous standards anywhere in the world. Our content is universally trusted - as all independent research proves.

As Baroness Barran said in a House of Lords debate this week on the importance of journalists: "Not only are they a trusted source of facts, but they will have a role to play in rallying communities and getting the message across about how we can keep ourselves and our families safe, and protect our NHS. Undoubtedly, they have a critical role."

But being your eyes and ears comes at a price. So we need your support more than ever to buy our newspapers during this crisis. In return we will continue to forensically cover the local news - not only the impact of the virus but all the positive and uplifting news happening in these dark days.

In addition, please write to your MP urging the Government to provide some additional financial support for local newspapers and their websites like this one and ensuring that supermarkets continue to stock them. I cannot stress enough how important such an intervention would be.

We thank all our readers and advertisers for their understanding and support - and we wish YOU all the best in the coming weeks. Keep safe, and follow the Government advice. Thank you.
