Covid-19 deaths in West Sussex hospitals rise

The number of Covid-19 related deaths in West Sussex hospitals has risen, according to NHS England’s latest figures.

According to the figures released today (May 17), 334 people have now died after testing positive for Covid-19 in hospitals in trusts that serve West Sussex.

It shows an increase of 13 deaths since figures released on Wednesday, May 13.

That total does not include people who have died outside of hospital, for example in care homes or in the community.

The latest number of deaths in trusts serving West Sussex are:

Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust – 226

Sussex Community Healthcare NHS Trust – 15

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – 93

The number of people who have died after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK, in all settings, stands at 34,466 as of 4pm on May 16.

There are currently 1,272 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Sussex.
