The Steyning school was recognised twice at the Schools, Students and Teaching (SSAT) Educational Outcomes awards, which celebrate the high standards of teaching and learning, outstanding support and inspirational leadership of students, staff, parents and governors in schools across the SSAT network.

SGS was honoured for being in band two for student progress at key stage four, placing it at the top end of the 'above average' bracket.

The second award was for achieving significantly higher than the national average student progress in applied general subjects among non-selective schools at key stage five. For the applied general subjects the average points score was a distinction.

Co-head teachers Noel Kennedy and Nat Nicol said: “We are absolutely thrilled that the grit and zest of our students and staff have been recognised on a national level. We are thankful for the amazing daily dedication of all of our staff to ensure high progress and educational outcomes for all students.

"Our students are determined, focused and happy. They are challenged academically and nurtured holistically through the best possible pastoral care and support. These awards are in recognition of our Steyning Family and we could not be prouder of everyone involved. Wonderful and uplifting news in these challenging times."
