Colleges prove themselves number one in Sussex ... for the fourth year in a row

A group of colleges - in Pulborough, Chichester, Crawley and Worthing - have proved themselves number one in Sussex.

The colleges are all part of the Chichester College Group and have topped results tables for 16-18 achievement across Sussex.

The National Achievement Rates Tables for 2018/19 have revealed the combined achievement rate for students aged 16-18 across the group’s family of colleges - Brinsbury College, Chichester College, Crawley College and Worthing College - is 85.7 per cent.

That’s higher than other further education providers in Sussex and means it’s the fourth consecutive year that the Chichester College Group has topped local results.

In particular, the Group’s A-level provision at Chichester and Worthing Colleges has performed exceptionally well – ranking 14th nationally.

It’s a similar story for apprenticeships, with Chichester College Group again coming out on top with an overall achievement rate of 74.7 per cent - higher than other college apprenticeship providers in Sussex.

Chichester College Group executive principal Andrew Green said: “I would like to congratulate our fantastic students and apprentices, who have worked so hard to achieve some really impressive results across each of our campuses at Chichester, Crawley, Worthing and Brinsbury.

“This is the first year our achievement rates include all four of our colleges and it is testament to our phenomenal team that we are, once again, ‘the best in Sussex’ for our 16-18 provision and our apprenticeship programmes.

“The passion, determination and dedication shown by our staff every day is absolutely crucial to our students’ success.

“Our mission is to ‘change lives through learning’, and I truly believe we are seeing the difference we are making to our students every day.”

The Chichester College Group is the largest college group in Sussex and teaches and trains more than 20,000 full and part-time students every year.

The four main sites of Chichester College, Crawley College, Brinsbury College and Worthing College, will be joinedby a fifth – Haywards Heath College – whenitopens in September.
