Kate Spurrier said her 14-year-old son Torrin created the replica in just a couple of days.

“He’s really into going to the cinema there,” she said. “He just hops on the train and goes at the weekend.

“Since it’s been closed he hasn’t been able to go.”

She said of the Lego tribute: “It was definitely a case of being a bit bored and wanting to create something.”

The photos have been liked dozens of times on Twitter.

“I didn’t really expect it to attract so much attention!” Kate said. “It’s made a few people smile, which is quite nice.”

People got in touch to share their memories of the venue.

One lady said she had got married there, while someone else who was involved in the campaign to save the Dome said it was nice to see younger generations appreciating the building.

Kate said: “It’s iconic on the seafront there.

“It’s quite unusual in terms of a cinema, it’s like stepping back in time. It’s quite unique.”
