Sir Peter Bottomley, MP for Worthing West, was due to meet with Charles Horton before meeting with the Prime Minister on the same subject.

The meetings come as hundreds of thousands of commuters across the South East are having their rail journeys disrupted due to industrial action by the RMT Union’s conductors. The current 48-hour strike is expected to end tomorrow (December 20).

Southern Rail has warned its passengers to expect disruption on all routes until further notice, even on non-strike days. This is due to the ASLEF Union’s refusal to allow its drivers to work overtime.

Sir Peter has passionately campaigned for an end to industrial action on behalf of rail passengers.

At Prime Minister’s Questions earlier this month Sir Peter asked: “Will my Right Honourable Friend encourage union and other political leaders to tell the RMT that 250 people with guaranteed employment should not be jeopardising the lives, jobs and safety of 600,000 passengers on Southern rail services?”
