Deliveroo makes me a bit of extra money and helps me feel like a bigger, better part of the town I live in, making a positive difference when I’m out there.”

Deliveroo emphasised how Covid-19 has changed the riding experience and said for many people, especially the elderly and vulnerable who were not able to leave their homes, the service had been invaluable.

The Everyday Heroes were riders who decided to break their routine or interrupt their day to do something for someone else.

Andre, who became a rider earlier this year, made a difference by engaging with customers and restaurants with a consistently positive and friendly manner.

Will Shu, chief executive and founder, said: “Our riders are heroes and at the heart of everything we do. They have worked tirelessly this year to provide for and support their local communities, and have proved themselves to be invaluable during the Covid-19 crisis.

“We are very proud of all they have achieved and the enormous contribution they make to people’s daily lives.”
