Worthing club urges furloughed people to Zoom in to help their career

Sean Keet, new president, says the club helps with careers by giving people the opportunity to develop their public speaking, communication and leadership skills.

Members have been meeting online via Zoom since March and the video conferencing platform has enabled them to welcome numerous guests from as far afield as Nepal, America and Saudi Arabia.

Sean said: “We know that being furloughed is a difficult time for people. Our club can help to improve communication skills and develop public speaking skills, while people are off work.

“It can be seen as an opportunity to learn new skills and reshape your career.”

Guests can watch the meeting without taking part, if they want to, but they are welcome to contribute.

Sean said members had benefited from having the contact with each other, at a time that had been quite isolating for some people. Some have also said the club has helped me with their career, by showing them how to communicate better in job interviews.
