“Research has down that wearing colour and things we love releases dopamine, known as the happy hormone, meaning dressing for you and no-one else really can instantly boost your mood.”

Easy to ways to inject a bit of happiness into your wardrobe can be putting on your favourite lipstick, or just taking a simple five minutes planning your outfit, are small steps to transforming your mood and boosting productivity.

She said: “Think about how you feel wearing your favourite dress- the one that fits perfectly, in a colour makes you feel like you can take on the world. Items like this, are often saved for best or a “special occasion”. In actuality this is often less than four times a year. Now imagine feeling that same confidence every day, wearing colours, styles and shapes that make you feel nothing less that incredible.”

On social media a growing trends has been #dressupFriday where people get dressed up in their ‘best’ clothes and share it with others doing the same.

“I would love to challenge more people to do that here. Push yourself to take five minutes out of your day to make simple tweaks to your outfit that boosts your mood," Leanne, who is based in Steyning, said.

“You don’t need to be wearing the latest trends or pushing yourself to dress like others, but it is truly life changing when you begin to dress for yourself wearing clothing and colours which not only look great but also transform your mood.”

A study by the Waste and Resources Action Programme released findings in June that two if five UK residents were having a clearout of clothing uring lockdown.

The ‘Citizens Insights: Textiles and Covid-19 Survey’ predicted that the British public were set to dispose of 67 million unwanted textiles during the Covid19 lockdown.

If you were one of those people that looked in their wardrobe and found it a little lacking Leanne has some tips on adding some excitement to your wardrobe.

She said: “Firstly, colour, colour, colour. Finding the colour palette that works for you and your complexion can often make you look more youthful and radiant.

“I find that accessories are a great way to add interest and texture to an outfit without breaking the bank. Fun earrings, printed belts or a colour pop bags are a great place to start.

“At the moment I am loving earrings from Hattie Buzzard. It is an independent, sustainable brand creating gorgeous, quirky and colourful designs. A great way to add a pop of colour and no two earring is the same as they are all handmade.”

“Also think about how you can reinvent your best items and make them work everyday. Try layering up your silk evening cami under a blazer with jeans for a more casual off-duty look.”
