Firsts for Steyning & District Food & Drink Festival prove a big hit

As Steyning & District Food & Drink Festival comes to its final few days, we look back at some of the events of the past week or so. The Sakala street curry evening was a first for the festival and it proved a sell-out success, with chef Martina Osei-Bobie from Yoga Chef Amore providing tasty takeaway options and shop owner Helen Hitchcock thrilled to see so many people enjoying themselves.

St Barnabas House was blessed with sunshine in the garden of Springwells for its charity coffee and cake morning, organised by Alison Durcan, and £456 was raised. Mary Bye, community fundraiser, gave a speech thanking everyone for their support.

There were two of the new online ventures, The Cocoa Loco Instagram cake decorating competition and the Higgidy Pies food challenges. Reina Alston, from the festival committee, said: “Good to see these new additions to the festival agenda being so well supported, and the winners were lucky enough to receive prizes of goodie bags from both of the companies sponsoring the events.”
