Owner Joel Ariaman took over the premises during lockdown and runs the successful Halloumilicious café next door.

He said business so far had been slow, citing the pandemic and lockdown measures as major factors.

The bar currently opens from 9am to 3pm, seven days a week, subject to changes, with customers able to get a free coffee between 9am and 11am.

Dishes they sell include avocado on toast with a poached egg, feta and grilled asparagus, or smoked tofu and chia, pumpkin and black sesame seeds as a vegan topping alternative.

Sides include avocado fries or fries made of parsnip, beetroot and carrot.

Smashed is not in the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme, but Halloumilicious is.

Joel took over the premises from the previous occupant, The Neon Sanctum, when it moved upstairs to create more seating for his halloumi businesses to compensate for social distancing.

But he noticed that most customers were taking away the food, leading him to push forward his avocado bar plans.
