It will take place from November 5 until December 2 and people are being asked to stay at home unless for specific purposes – such as childcare, exercise, buying food, or if you cannot work from home.

Leisure facilities must close – including gyms, swimming pools, golf courses and dance studios.

South Downs Leisure, which runs Worthing Leisure, Splashpoint and others, said it was ‘devastated’ to be closing its doors this week.

A statement on its website read: “Following the announcement from the government on Saturday 31st October, we regrettably head into a second lockdown, we want to reassure you that South Downs Leisure will still be here supporting you and our community.

“Although we are devastated to be closing our doors on Wednesday evening, the good news is that we have done this before and therefore we are ready to be able to offer activities to keep everyone active during these unprecedented times.
