They are encouraging people to buy the gift of panto this year, partly to maintain Christmas tradition, partly to raise vital cash.

Lucy Ashworth, the trust’s fundraising, marketing and events manager, said: “Going to the Christmas panto is an outing the whole family looks forward to every year. Grandparents, parents and children are always excited to see a show full of glitter and laughter. These wonderful family memories at the theatre are usually made possible through a treat from a grandparent or tickets that have been given as a special gift. Why not treat someone you love to this gift of togetherness, making magical memories by purchasing a screening of The Original Online Panto to enjoy at home?

“This gift will also give back to The Sussex Snowdrop Trust, which provides vital nursing care in the home for children who have a life-threatening or terminal illness. Every pantomime screening purchased will generate a donation directly to the charity from £2 to £4 depending on the total amount of screenings sold.”

Tickets (from December 14-January 3) are available for £15.49 per household, and if you use the following link, it is the Sussex Snowdrop Trust that will benefit: https://www.universe.com/events/snowdrop-christmas-sleeping-beauty-panto-tickets-LTKB65“The Sussex Snowdrop Trust is currently supporting 62 families in the local area. The Snowdrop Care at Home Team are with the families every step of the way from diagnosis, providing nursing care at home, as well as offering emotional and financial support.”

Karen Courtney, a veteran pantomime producer who founded The Original Online Panto Company to digitise Sleeping Beauty in the wake of the second lockdown, said: “This year, I’ve seen colleagues, friends, theatres and the creative industries suffer, and I wanted to do something to support them and help the charity sector while keeping the panto season alive. We had weeks to turn this around and what we’ve made is incredible, working with a fantastic production of Sleeping Beauty by Polka Dot Pantomimes.

“The most important thing to all of us involved is to ensure that charities who need the funding the most benefit from the sales of these tickets. People of every age will love this production of Sleeping Beauty. It’s the perfect gift to send loved ones and hopefully everyone buying tickets will feel happier this Christmas knowing they’ve supported UK charities and the arts.”

Actor and writer Eric Potts, who has also been involved in the creation of the project, said: “This is top quality British pantomime at its best, charming and traditional. It’s a fabulously festive treat to watch with your loved ones from the comfort of your own home while helping lots of great charities who have struggled to raise funds this year. And it’s happy ever after for everyone!”
