One of her readers has already described the opening novel was a ‘splice between Harry Potter and David Copperfield (...) Star Wars meets Chronicles of Narnia’.

Sophie is looking forward to the fanbase growing.

“It’s about a 15-year-old boy who has grown up in a village that is not known to anyone else in the world. There is a secret about his parents he does not know until they end up disappearing one day. He has to figure out the truth about his life. It’s a fantasy, basically.

“When I was at the high school, we were asked to do a project in Year 10 and, funnily enough, before we were set the project, I pre-empted it by coming up with some story ideas. This was the idea that I came up with first, the story of a boy who was separated from his parents and somehow has to find his way back. I ended up embellishing that over the years, and I have now written some sequels, but I am going to wait at least a year before I bring the second one out. I need to do some illustrations for that one as well.”

As for Jason, star of the series: “I have moulded him on what I am like, which is pretty much quiet, but imaginative and curious... That’s what makes him want to find out...”
