Music and auction evening will help buy a special suitcase

The charity event, with music from band The Hustlers, is being held at the John Selden pub, in Salvington Road, on Saturday, in aid of WKDS – Worthing Kids and Littlehampton-based Dapper Snapper.

The two charities, which support families with children with Down’s Syndrome and other special needs, have joined forces and would like to buy a sensory suitcase.

The suitcases cost £2,000 each but contain dozens of sensory items for the children, including a mirror ball, a vibrating snake and lots of fun lights.

Rachel Froggatt is on the WKDS committee and takes her daughter Katie, who has Down’s Syndrome, along to the group’s outings and events.

Rachel, of Birkdale Road, Durrington, said: “WKDS are trying to raise enough money to buy a sensory suitcase so they can hold sensory coffee mornings/afternoons for the younger members and their parents.

“The suitcases will benefit the children immensely and while they play with the bits and bobs, the parents can talk to each other and (hopefully) get a chance to relax.”

The charity evening starts at 7.30pm and includes live music from The Hustlers rock ’n’ roll band, an auction and a raffle.

Sally, 36, said: “Katie loves the band – she is their biggest fan. They are like her Take That. She is very excited. They are even going to play a special song for her.”

The main auction prizes are two tickets to watch Brighton and Hove Albion play against Coventry on Saturday, November 26, and two tickets to watch Brighton against Burnley on Saturday, December 17, both in the east stand in the new Amex Stadium.

Raffle prizes include various theatre tickets, hair salon vouchers and more.
