Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall visits Steyning

FAMILY life and beautiful blooms are among the talents of a special guest who is coming to town.

Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall, writer, horticulturist and garden designer, and mum to River Cottage’s Hugh, will be giving a talk in Steyning on Thursday (November 17), at 7.30pm.

Jane is the proud holder of two Chelsea Flower Show gold medals, and is well-known for her books on family life, including The Good Granny Companion, the Good Granny Cookbook, and, the latest, the gift book The Pocket Book of Good Grannies

Sara Bowers, of the Steyning Bookshop, which is hosting the event, said: “We are so pleased that she has managed to fit in a visit for the Steyning Bookshop this autumn in between speaking at festivals, judging chutney competitions and, of course, minding her own grandchildren.”

Jane will be talking about her interesting life and the great experience of being a grandmother,

Sara added: “The Sussex Produce Company has kindly agreed to host the event, since there is a bit more space than in the bookshop and, anyway, we’d like to introduce Jane to the lovely shop – maybe she might mention it to Hugh as a good venue for a visit some time!

“I have supplied their kitchen with a copy of The Good Granny Cookbook so there should be some delicious cake on the night. We do hope that Steyning will give her a good welcome.”
