Half-term grappling spectacular at Worthing’s Assembly Hall

“Dangerous” Danny lines up against another top star who is never far away from controversy, “The Polish Eagle” Wolf Alexander, in the top of the bill bout on the big half-term grappling spectacular on Thursday (May 28).

If Garnell does emerge victorious at the end of the evening with the mid-heavyweight belt around his waist, it is odds on his outspoken manager, the self-styled “Twisted Genius” of the ring world Dean Ayass, will claim a share of the title spoils.

Because, like them or loathe them, Garnell and Ayass get the job done, and if Garnell is the one who takes the bumps inside the roped square, there is no doubt Ayass’s influence, and often interference, from outside the ring has been a major factor in Garnell’s surge up the rankings.

Garnell is now unbeaten in solo combat in five years of battling some of the biggest names in the business on the Assembly Hall stage since Ayass took control of his affairs, a CV that includes victories over Zack Sabre, Joel Redman, Flash Barker and The Zulu Prince, plus winning both the Worthing Trophy and Rumblemania Trophy.

The in-form Alexander is a new adversary, but he has history with Garnell and Ayass, having been on their side in a tag match which ended in tears and bitter recriminations when he was disqualified and their opponents took full advantage.

The supporting action includes two bouts between current and former PWF title-holders, with “Wonder Kid” Jonny Storm taking on “The Pocket Hercules” Wade Fitzgerald, and Barry Cooper set to battle it out with Andy Simmonz, while Charlie Checkmate faces India’s Rishi Ghosh in an international encounter.
