Together they will be offering a concert presentation of the greatest hits, says band member David Griego: “We wrote the show around the music rather than the story. There is no real narrative to the show except we talk about the record sales and the glory days of the group.

“We start off doing a skit where we pretend we are American, but really that’s just our way of saying that that’s not what we are going to be doing for the rest of the night. We just talk as us – and offer the music.

“The Jersey Boys has put the music back in the spotlight, but I grew up with a rock ‘n’ roll singer dad in the 60s – not a famous one, but still a rock ‘n’ roll singer – and I grew up listening to this kind of music. It’s a niche part of music that is now coming back into fashion.”

This live production will take you on a trip down memory lane as Frankie’s Guys put their own charismatic stamp on a catalogue of hits including Big Girls Don’t Cry, Can’t Take My Eyes of You, Sherry and Oh What A Night.

“I have got a theatre background for the last ten years as a singer. I have been working mainly in the leisure industry, holiday destinations and cruise ships.

“The cruise ships are great. It’s one of those things where you live like a bubble life, but it is still a great lifestyle. You either thrive on it or really hate it. It is not like living in full reality. But I had a good time. I worked for Disney Cruise Line in the Caribbean and the Bahamas for a year.

“And now it has come full circle. Last year, Frankie’s Guys spent three months going back and forth on cruise ships all over the world.

“We performed in South Africa and South America and Australia. It is great to take the show overseas, and you live a very privileged lifestyle.

“We did one show in three weeks. They fly you out there, and you get on board and they tell you that you are not playing until the tenth, and it is only the first and you don’t get off the ship until the 21st!

“I just enjoyed the travel side of it. We did all sorts. It was great to spend time with the guys and just to bond together. And we joined in with bits and pieces around the ship. But the paid work requirement was very minimal!”

So why did they come back?

“We have got another one lined up for this summer, but really you have got to decide where you want your show to be placed.

“When you are doing the cruise ships, obviously, it eliminates other places you could be playing.

“We are trying to get into the theatres, and it is nice to be playing with your own band. I am pretty sure we will still do the odd cruise here and there, but I love the fact that we are doing lots of different things in the industry.

“We are out and about, and we have got about 20 dates lined up for this year. We are just starting out in the theatres, but those dates are great for this year.

“Hopefully it will just grow and grow, and more and more people will come to see us.”
