FILM REVIEW: Attenberg

MARINA (Ariane Labed) is 23 years old and still a virgin, living with her ailing architect father (Vangelis Mourikis), who has tried his best to shield her from the harsh realities of the outside world.

Indeed, Marina’s greatest pleasure in life is watching nature documentaries narrated by Sir David Attenborough and the occasional walk around her Greek seaside hometown with best pal Bella (Evangelia Randou), who has no qualms whatsoever about exploring her sexuality.

As Marina faces the impending death of her patriarch, she must also forge human connections, including with a handsome stranger (Yorgos Lanthimos) who shares her passion for table football.
