DAYS OUT: Fishbourne Roman Palace

Discovered accidentally during the digging of a water main trench in the 1960s, excavations revealed the site had developed from a military base at the time of Roman invasion to a lavish palace by the end of the first century.

Visitors will explore the site stumbling upon gardens, artefacts and beautiful mosaics and paintings.

Education plays a vital role in the Roman Palace, there is an emphasis on learning for all ages, from primary school to college level and during holidays there are a variety of workshops such as Roman textiles, ceramics, mosaics and Roman gardening.
