CONCERT: Shoreham Oratorio Choir performance on Good Friday

SHOREHAM Oratorio Choir is taking a trip down memory lane on Good Friday in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

The choir will be performing Sir John Stainer’s Victorian oratorio, The Crucifixion, the same piece it sang on Good Friday in 1961.

The concert will be held at St Mary’s Church, in East Street, Shoreham, at 7.30pm on Good Friday. Admission is free.

Tony Allen is conducting the performance, sung by the choir’s president, Neil Jenkins, and Michel Kallipetis.

Philip Adams is organist and Fred Beer the timpanist.

Morag Charlwood, publicity officer for Shoreham Oratorio Choir, said: “We hope that you will wish to contribute generously to the retiring collection.”

Shoreham Oratorio Choir is also performing Brahms’ Requiem, with Chanctonbury Chorus, at Lancing College Chapel on June 18.

The concert is part of the Adur Festival, and tickets will cost £12 and £15.
