Chichester: a chance to play with the Hampshire Recorder Sinfonia

An opportunity for recorder players to spend a day with one of the finest recorder orchestras in the south is coming up in Chichester when The Hampshire Recorder Sinfonia invites you to play along with them.

Spokeswoman Jean Campbell said: “You can bring your recorders along on Saturday, May 16 to the Central Junior School, Orchard Street in Chichester and enjoy a day’s playing from 10.30am-4.30pm. The main focus of the day will be on the larger instruments, tenor, bass, great bass and contrabass, but there will also be opportunities to play descant and treble recorders.

“Conducting the day will be the orchestra’s director of music Christopher Burgess and the assistant director Helen Hooker (above), who has close ties to the city and is well known as one of the finest tutors, conductors and players on the recorder scene. The music will be varied and enjoyable, and the orchestra promises a great experience for players only used to small groups.
