Lucy Ashby, archives and exhibitions officer, said: “Back in June, Littlehampton Museum launched the theme for its 2020 OPEN exhibition and invited people to submit work created during lockdown for an extra special OPEN reflecting on the effects this pandemic has had on us all.

“It had been hoped that normality would have returned by winter, but it is now clear that this will not be the case. In light of this, and to ensure the safety of all artists, visitors and staff, the Museum has taken the decision to make the 2020 OPEN virtual.

“A brand-new online OPEN exhibition featuring all work submitted will launch on Tuesday, December 1, providing a safe way for everybody to experience all the wonderful pieces of artwork created during this time. If you would like to be a part of this virtual event, now is the time to get creating. As before, the museum invites everyone to join in and submit something, whether you consider yourself to be an artist or not, based on your experiences, thoughts or feelings about these strange and challenging times we find ourselves in.

“The museum welcomes traditional art mediums as always, but equally this year, invites expressions of any form to help create a special and memorable online display to mark this unique year. The museum will also be accessioning some pieces into the collection as a permanent record of our community during these important times.

People can submit as many pieces as they wish. To submit your work/s simply visit the museum website and follow the instructions.

“The Museum would love to see your ideas and artworks in the making. Share on #littlehamptonmuseumOPEN2020.”
