SPORTING success and contributions to sport in Littlehampton was rewarded on June 18 at the annual Littlehampton Sports Forum Sports Awards.
On an evening where guest speaker Alan Mullery told tales of his playing career with Fulham, Tottenham and England, Angmering Stoolball Club's Melissa Mantle took the top honour when she was named Sportsperson of the Year.

She said: "It's been an excellent year again, and I was so chuffed by being nominated for it by the girls. It showed a lot of respect from them"

Commendations for the award went to Littlehampton Ladies Football Club captain Charlotte Bennett, and Littlehampton Cricket Club's James Askew.

Young Sportsperson of the Year went to Ollie Harcus, Littlehampton Ladies Football Club were named Team of the Year, and their Under-14 side, Littlehampton Devils, were the Youth Sports Team of the Year.

Arunners Athletics Club's John Moore was crowned Coach of the Year, Littlehampton Cricket Club's Colin Oliver-Redgate was named Administrator of the Year, and Littlehampton Swimming Club's Linda Edmondson won the Contribution to Youth Sport award.

The mayor's Lifetime Contribution award was shared by Littlehampton Badminton Club's David Beatty, and Tyndall Jones, who has worked in David O. Jones & son sports shop, for the past 42 years.
