PAVILION'S 60 years in Worthing bowls was honoured last week.
To help mark the club's diamond jubilee on a special day (August 24), the Home Counties Bowling Association provided fours from Berkshire, Middlesex, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Kent, Oxfordshire and Sussex to meet Pavilion's men in a match, and local clubs Field Place, Marine Gardens, Beach Park and Homefield Park, produced four rinks to face Pavilion's women.

For civic dignitary presence, mayor Christine Brown was invited and got the match rolling, after a buffet reception. A dinner completed a day that began with drizzle but cleared to sunshine for all the important outdoor bits.

On the greens, Pavilion men beat Home Counties only by just one shot (151-150) while the Worthing District BA's women won their match over Pavilion 89-76.
