IT has been a week of highs and lows in Worthing's on-going parking debate.

Worthing Council has announced it will run a park-and-ride service from Teville Gate car park to South Street on four Saturdays leading up to Christmas.

The Santa Express will run on Saturday, November 28, and Saturday, December 5, 12 and 19 – from 9am to 5pm. Shoppers have to pay £2 to park in the multi-storey car park.

NCP has also announced it is introducing 80p half-hour charges in three of its multi-storey car parks rather than its minimum two-hour charge of £2.90.

Yet shoppers who want to stay more than two hours will be penalised under the new scheme, with two-hour parking costing an extra 30p and four-hour parking costing an extra £1.40.

The car parks affected are the High Street, Grafton, and Buckingham.

To have your say cut out the form calling for West Sussex County Council to reconsider plans to increase parking charges in Worthing, in the Thursday, November 26 edition of the Worthing Herald.

Forms should be sent to Alex Jenkins, Worthing Herald, Cannon House, Chatsworth Road, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 1NA by Monday, December 7.
