A MAN police say was the victim of an assault outside a Durrington pub is in a "critical but stable" condition.
Police and the ambulance service were called to The Lamb pub, in Salvington Road, at 1.40am on Saturday morning (September 6).

A police spokesman said a 48-year-old local man had collapsed following an assault. He was taken to Worthing Hospital where his condition has been described as "critical but stable".

Police sealed off sections of the car park and forensic officers searched the scene. A police car remained in the car park for several hours, but the pub was allowed to open for business.

It has been revealed a 25-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault close to the scene. On Saturday night (September 6) he was in police custody awaiting interview.
