Teenager attacked with baseball bat

A 14-YEAR-old Durrington boy was attacked by a gang with a baseball bat on Sunday (August 3).

The victim was walking down an alley alongside the Tesco superstore in New Road at 6.30pm, when he was approached by a gang of five youths.

One of the gang had a baseball bat and hit the him in the stomach, before they were all chased off by a security guard from Tesco.

He was not badly hurt and police believe the attack was unprovoked.

House burglaries in Tarring and Goring

JEWELLERY, cash, alcohol and bank cards were just some of the items stolen during three house burglaries across Worthing this week.

A house in Southsea Avenue, Goring, was burgled sometime between 10.30am and 11.30am on Friday (August 1), with cash and alcohol stolen. The thieves broke in through an upstairs window.

In Walpole Avenue, Goring, between 8am and 4.30pm on Monday (August 4), thieves stole a purse, camera, jewellery and bank cards. The owners also thought their dog had been taken, but he was later found in a cupboard.

And £140 worth of cash was taken from a house in Princess Avenue, Tarring, sometime before 4.30pm on Monday (August 4).

Man has his ear cut off in vicious Durrington attack

A MAN had his ear sliced off during a vicious attack in Durrington early on Tuesday morning (August 5).

The 21-year-old man was attacked at 2am in Vancouver Road, Durrington and his ear was cut off with, what police believe, was a knife.

Specialist police search teams, including a sniffer dog trained in finding body parts, have been called to the scene to search for the ear and the knife.

Underwater divers have also been searching nearby drains.

But as of today (Wednesday, August 6) both the ear and the weapon had not been found.

The man is being treated at a specialist hospital in East Grinstead.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack and anyone who saw three men walking away from the area.
