Occupying a former butcher’s shop, the little art shop is in Rookwood Road (PO20 8LT).

“We have all exhibited together many times,” says Karen. “We have talked about having a gallery for a long time, but I have never been in a position to do it. Linda happily found herself in a position where it was possible, and she invited me and Viv to be part of it, and so the little art shop was born. It has been six months that it has been in the offing. Linda’s partner bought the property. It was the old butchers which had been closed for a while. We have kept a nod to the old building. There is like a little office that they used to have.

“We will run it as a gallery and we will have visiting artists. There will always be a core element of the three of us, but we will have artists coming in throughout the year, be they ceramicists or other painters.

“There will always be something new. You can go to some shops and it is always the same. This won’t be like that at all. We will have a calendar of events.”

For example, the featured artist from Thursday, April 27 until Wednesday, May 10 will be Frances Knight with her landscape paintings.

As for the core three: “We are all very different artists,” Karen says. “I do glass columns that go in gardens, and I do fused work as well. I also paint and do silver work and textiles. I am a flibbertigibbet. I jump from thing to thing. I am inspired by a lot of things. Colour and movement are very important.

“Viv is a textile artist. She stitches into pictures, but it is not like embroidery. It is very much more contemporary. She is inspired by things around her and by memories. She also paints a little bit.Linda paints and does silver work and enamel work. She is another multi-media artist.”
