HISTORIC St Mary' House, Bramber, is to host a performance by actress Alison Neil.
The Shakespeare Ladies Club – Tales of Georgian London will be performed at 7.30pm on October 5.

Amid the fascinating trivia of mid-18th century life, Mary Cowper De Grey (played by Alison Neil) recounts the true story of a group of Ladies of Qu
ality, determined to make Shakespeare fashionable once more.

The success of the Shakespeare Ladies Club echoes down the centuries.

Mary also has a very personal tale to recount – her involvement with a young and ambitious would-be actor named David Garrick.

Mrs Cowper De Grey then introduces her surprise guest. And the lords, ladies and gentlemen of the audience are told a very different tale – of a London unseen by "people of quality".

Commanding great stage presence, Alison reveals what life was like at that time and provides a colourful look at Georgian London.

She has appeared in many West End plays and worked for BBC radio and appeared in numerous television productions before embarking on her one-woman shows.

Tickets for the show cost £20, including wine and canapés, and are available from the box office on 01903 816205, or by clicking here
